I took a look at Anna Powell-Smith’s “Fix My Street” app, which sends data to your local council, prompting them to fix something in your area, like the pothole mentioned in this video. I see this as an interesting way to collect data and then actually project it towards a central power that has the ability to create the change that is necessary to make your neighborhood a better place. I don’t think many people know about the app (I know I didn’t) but I wonder how significantly neighborhoods would be changed if it was well advertised. It would be interesting to see what other data sets can be collected and how we can provide this data to a power that has the ability to create change that might be out of our scope of ability.
