Nova Jiang’s Ideogenetic Machine really fascinates me. I’ve always thought of cinematic video games as these sort of visual novels that are interactive, but she’s created this non-video-game interactive work which almost functions as an RPG (like DnD or such).  She’s giving part of the authorship of her art to someone else each iteration, which also begs the question: to whom does the art belong?

I really like the idea of writing your own narrative, even if it’s with outside influence. It’s kind of insidious how this encroaches on the territory of comic writers, but perhaps automation has always meant for this sort of thing to happen.
