Holger Lippmann has a very traditional art background in painting and sculpture for his undergrad that guides his work in the digital, computational realm. A lot of his work is made in processing which is nice to hear as a student who is still starting out with all of this code + art. A lot of his work composes delicate structures and abstract geometrical patterns.
Some quotes that describe his practice:
“My internal process is the same as it was when I was working with paint and canvas,” Lippmann explains. “That’s why I call my current work digital or computer-aided painting.”
“deep inside i’m a painter and i always was. so i think my work should be best described in the traditional context of painting. the focus lies on the development of an image and colour composition.”
