Sounds + visuals are some things that I want to explore more this year and Satoru Higa was one of the first artists I found that did this. He’s one out of the many artistic programmers I found super interesting on CLOUDS. I automatically gravitated to this theme of not only visual art but also the combination of music and programming. His initial aspiration was to make music and got into programming because he wanted to make a software program to help him make music. This exposer to the new tool was the gateway to his projects that synchronize visuals with sound.

Seeing Higa’s work reminds me of the endless possibilities with programming and the arts. I personally love his crazy visuals that collaborates with the music and choreography with the people. It’s great to see the use of programming not by itself, but with visuals, people and the music. On his website, I found this Japanese rap music video that he helped with the visuals and it’s pretty awesome.
