I agree that masterful, or poetic work if you will, has the potential to be what Naimark describes as first word and last word art. However, the vast majority of work does not necessarily have the intent needed to be deemed as either. In regards to the smartphone, or laptop, its ubiquity is clear, but neither would be considered the first or last of its kind in the spectrum of technological development for either species. The fast paced culture of today and the human intuition to be memorable encourages people to continue to develop these new technologies. These developments then perpetuate the want for fame or recognition even after death, thankfully continuing the creation and inspiration for the undiscovered. However, in the journey to being the first or last, not everyone finds success.
