For the process, I used loops to create circles and rectangles. I overlapped the circles to make diamond shapes, and put rectangles over the diamond shapes to create even more shapes. I gave contrast to the shapes by using light colors such as, blue, yellow, pink, and purple.
I wanted to depict the beauty of traditional Korean “Dancheong” pattern that was incorporated in traditional Korean architecture. Dancheong patterns were painted on buildings for not only decoration and protection purposes but also for spiritual purposes to avoid evil spirits. Dancheong’s use of five primary colors in geometric designs was revisited through coding, in order to study the wisdom of the ancestors in the arts.

I tried to draw flower-like shape with dots and changing colors. I wanted to apply calculus which we learnt from class yesterday, so I used it for drawing my visual elements. Firstly, I thought what if I put it in hexagonal grid, but by accident, I overlapped the shapes and I liked it. I imagined this wallpaper can be like a skirt.
I tried to portray a “hipster” design in a modern way that would fit well on the front of a sweatshirt. I added zigzags to represent the “hippie” look of the older days and springs of transparent circles to show the modern, 21st century style. Through this project, I became more used to and adept with using for loops.
